The History of the Gaza Strip - How did we get here?

The Gaza Strip was created in 1948 by Egypt. What were the reasons for its creation? what are the stages that took place until the present conflict? Join me in unpacking the situation and better understand the roots of the current conflict 

We will explore the history of the region and the events that took place including the war of 1948 Isralei Indepence, The Nakba, the wars of 1956 and 1967 Six Day War when the region was changed and the borders were redrawn after the Six Day War. We will look at the event of the Israel's disangagment from Gaza in 2005 and the changes after the Palestinian Authority elections in 2006. 

About the presentor: Gadi Ben Dov is an Israeli tour guide who lives in Jerusalem. Gadi has been guiding and teaching people from around the world about Israel and the conflict for the last 20 years. Gadi was born in the US and moved to Israel at a young age, grew up on a Kibbutz in the north of Isral and served in the Israeli army. He will be providing his own views and understandings of the situation and the history of the Gaza Strip.
